While domestic cyclocrossers were racing a Worlds test event at FayetteCross, XCO racers headed to Japan for a look at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics course and the test event at the Izu Mountain Bike Course.
Fresh off her big weekend at World Cup Waterloo, Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) took the Elite Women’s win. Sina Frei (Switzerland) finished second and Anne Terpstra (Netherlands) third.
Evie Richards (Great Britain) finished 9th, Catharine Pendrel (Canada) 10th, Lea Davison (United States) 17th and new World Champ Pauline Ferrand-Prevot was a DNF. American Kate Courtney was a DNS.
Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands) was expected to race the Elite Men’s Tokyo event, but he instead opted to race the La DH Famenne Ardenne Classic road race in Belgium, where he finished 6th.
New (and continuing) (and continuing) (and continuing) (and continuing) World Champion Nino Schurter (Switzerland) made it a Swiss Sweep with an Elite Men’s win. Viktor Koretkzy (France) took second and Luca Braidot (Italy) third.
Peter Disera (Canada) finished 13th and Christopher Blevins (United States) 31st.
