Wout van Aert (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace) proved once again that he is the man to beat this season, making it seven victories in eight starts with a dominating win at Superprestige Zonhoven.
Van Aert made his move early at Zonhoven, making the initial selection of himself, Lars van der Haar (Giant Alpecin) and Tim Merlier (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace) on the third lap. He wasted no time thinning the group, dropping Merlier in what would prove to be the decisive area of the course — a difficult sand running section.
This sand section would be where Van Aert dispatched of Van der Haar the following lap, proving strongest on the day with a solo win.
Rob Peeters (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace) bested Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb-Napoleon Games) in a tight sprint for second place.
The only American Starter on the day, Brian Matter (KS Energy Services), finished in 26th place.
Elite Women’s Race: Sanne Cant Proves Best in Zonhoven’s Sand Pits

Notching her second Superprestige victory of the year, Sanne Cant (Enertherm-BKCP) took the win by a seven-second margin over Nikki Harris (Telenet-Fidea), and by 57 seconds over third place finisher, Jolien Verschueren (Telenet-Fidea).
Helen Wyman (Kona) was the top-placed British starter, ending up with a strong fifth place finish.
