Today, two of the Big Three male cyclocrossers are back on top of podiums, only now they’ve swapped mud for pavement.
After brief cyclocross seasons, the superstars Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel took to the road and are off to impressive road seasons.
After two and a half months off racing due to a back injury and knee surgery, Mathieu van der Poel is back to his winning ways. He just took first at stage four of the 2022 Coppi e Bartali.
This is after his stunning third place in his first race back at Milan-San Remo, making for two podiums in five days, plus a fourth place in the Coppi e Bartali opening stage. See results from the Italian stage race here.
Wout van Aert has already had an impressive road season, but added yet another victory today by winning the 2022 E3 Saxo Bank Classic.
