Jeremy Powers completed the double in Rochester, winning the 2016 Rochester Cyclocross Day 1 C1 race at the new Genesee Valley Park with a comfortable gap, and then using Day 2 as a training race and nipping Stephen Hyde in the sprint.
Lee Barber caught up with the 2016 Cyclocross National Champion after his second win for a quick interview.
Powers talked about the changing of the guard, with a lot of young racers breaking into the top 10:
“I look the results sheet and [see my year] 1983 as a birthday, and I look at everyone else’s and I see ’89, ’91, ’92…so I know I’m the older statesman around here now..I don’t think age is a factor as long as you have the motivation and having fun.” -Powers
