Just in case you thought you had to live up near the 44th Parallel to be able to enjoy the sport of cyclocross, think again! ’Cross is the hottest thing in cycling since coaster brakes on a long downhill, and the warmer states of the lower 48 are joining in the fun. Take Tennessee, for example – from proposed cyclocross parks in Nashville to six-race-series that span September to January in Fayetteville, cyclocross is catching on, and then some. [The proposed Nashville ’cross park got mainstream coverage on a local TV news station, and it’s great to hear the newscaster define “cyclocross” and make aerial finger quotations when he says the word.
