USA Cycling Pro CX Rankings - Week #8: Compton, Hyde and Stephenson Still Lead - Cyclocross Magazine - Cyclocross and Gravel News, Races, Bikes, Media

Week eight’s 2016/2017 Pro CX rankings is out, with Katie Compton extending her lead for the Elite Women, Stephen Hyde is running away with it for the Elite Men and Denzel Stephenson remains top Junior.

Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek-Panache) took the Pan American Cyclocross Championship title on Saturday and came up just short on Sunday at the King’s CX finishing just behind winner Katerina Nash. Ellen Noble (JAM Fund/NCC) had a solid weekend as well, representing as top U23 Woman. Emma White jumps up a spot to claim third in the standings.

Stephen Hyde (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) retains the number one ranking and proved that he is the true King of Cincinnati with a double win over some very tough competition. Hyde has been building up a huge points lead each week and is currently 209 points ahead of second place Kerry Werner. Curtis White jumps up a spot to take third in the rankings.

Denzel Stephenson stays at the top of the Junior rankings after a strong showing this past weekend. With his victory, Lane Maher takes over second from Gunnar Holmgren who now sits third.

Next up on the ProCX calendar is the Derby City Cup in Louisville, KY.

This year’s USA Cycling Pro CX calendar features 44 scoring cyclocross races, with UCI C1 and C2 points going 20 deep, and non-UCI events going 10 deep. UCI C1 events naturally score the most points. A non-UCI win is less valuable than seventh in a UCI C1, while a UCI C2 win is less valuable than ninth in a UCI C1, but the number of scoring events are capped per rider.
