The USA Cycling Professional Cyclo-cross Calendar (Pro CX) provided another weekend of exciting races with events in two cities. The MudFund Derby City Cup in Louisville, Ky., was two thrilling days of competition for elite and juniors riders alike, including Saturday’s UCI 1 event. In addition to that, another group of riders plied their trade in Jamesburg, N.J., for HPCX on Sunday.
Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Rapha-Focus) won Sunday’s race after placing second on Saturday to collect 125 points over the weekend and remain atop the Pro CX men’s standings with 651 points. Ben Berden (BEL/Raleigh-Clement) placed third on Saturday before being the runner up in Sunday’s race to remain in second place with 631 points, 20 points behind Powers. Ryan Trebon (Bend, Ore./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) won Saturday’s race before he was fourth on Sunday to grab a hold on third place in the standings with 606 points. Tim Johnson (Topsfield, Mass./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) is in fourth place with 584 points while under-23 rider Yannick Eckmann (Boulder, Colo./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) holds fifth place with 320 points. Cameron Dodge (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Scott Cross Team) won the elite men’s race at the HPCX and is in 11th place in the standings with 214 points.
Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Trek Cyclocross Collective) swept the two women’s races in Louisville and stormed into third place of the Pro CX women’s standings with 453 points. Elle Anderson (San Francisco, Calif./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) placed fourth on Saturday before finishing second in Sunday’s race to maintain the top spot with 554 points. Meredith Miller (Boulder, Colo./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) remains in second place with 529 points, only 25 points behind Anderson. Crystal Anthony (Beverly, Mass./Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) holds fourth place with 448 points while Katerina Nash (CZE/Luna Pro Team) slipped from third place last week into fifth place this week with 405 points. Laura van Gilder (Cresco, Pa./Van Dessel p/b Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers) won the women’s race in New Jersey and is in sixth place with 349 points.
Austin Vincent (Simsbury, Conn./Race Cf-Racecf.org @Racecf) won Saturday’s juniors 17-18 race in Louisville before placing third on Sunday to grow his lead atop the Pro CX juniors men’s standings. Vincent now has 345 points, 91 points more than Peter Goguen (Hopedale, Mass./Race Cf-Racecg.org @Racecf), who is in second place. Cooper Willsey (Hinesburg, Vt./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com), who won Sunday’s contest, moved into third place with 250 points while David Lombardo (Crystal Lake, Ill./WCJ Racing) dropped from second place into fourth place with 236 points. Ian McShane (Louisville, Ky./Sophisticated Living-Bob’s Red Mill) moved into fifth place with 185 points.
