Katie Compton needs no introduction from us, and we’re happy to see an elite rider of such high caliber throwing her hat into the ring. It’s a great thing for the sport when the elite riders take such an interest in the inner-workings, and Compton is a great candidate for the Elite Female Athlete spot in the USA Cycling Cyclocross Committee.

Here’s what she has to say:

I’ve been involved with bike racing for over 20 years and racing cyclocross at the elite level for about ten years, during which time I have won three World Championship medals, seven elite national championships, 11 World Cups, had 51 UCI wins and been on numerous World Cup podiums. I have extensive experience with racing in the US and Europe; I know the differences and successes between the two, which will contribute to how we approach the growth and management of the sport. I’ve been involved in teaching clinics, coaching cyclocross specific athletes and encouraging others to try the sport and help it grow. I know the technical ins and outs of cyclocross and feel I would be a good candidate for the committee.
