“It’s a beautiful fall day here in New England. The sun is shining, it’s cold, crisp, there’s leaves on the ground. That can only mean one thing: it’s cyclocross season.”

So begins Adam Myerson in the Cycle-Smart Solutions for Cyclocross DVD produced in 2004 and made available on YouTube yesterday. Since founding Cycle-Smart in 1999, Myerson has made cyclocross clinics and camps a major part of the company’s mission. In fact, when we talked to Myerson at the beginning of last cyclocross season, he was in Oklahoma for a clinic far from his New England home.

Back in 2004, Myerson and Johs Huseby put together a training DVD that teaches skills via instruction and race video. The video focuses on four skills: dismounting, re-mounting, picking up the bike and carrying the bike.

As we noted in our Technique Thursday piece on improving bike handling, attending a clinic and working on skills are great ways to improve in the offseason, so the still-relevant info in the video is apropos for a Technique Throwback Thursday.
