Cyclocross fans around the world breathed a sigh of relief after this weekend’s race in Oostmalle. Though Sven Nys didn’t take the win (a bad start and mechanical left him in ninth place), he did announce after the race that he has no intention of retiring from cyclocross anytime soon.
After the race, the current World Champion told reporters, “I’ll do it after next season at least another year. And just in case it really could keep going, we have even an option for another year added more.” He’ll keep current sponsor Crelan, though they will only support him, as opposed to the team, after 2014.
