Myles Romanow, promoter of the two-day Whitmore’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup in Nassau County, Long Island on November 20 and 21, has announced the return of the Super Raffle on Sunday afternoon following the Elite Men’s race. The raffle has become a tradition at the event, which again this year will serve as the final two races for this year’s Champion System MAC Series.
“We have wheels, seatposts, components and all kind of stuff,” said Romanow by phone recently. “SRAM, FSA and Shimano have all given us lots of stuff for the raffle. The only way to enter the raffle is to enter a race and every race entry includes a free raffle ticket. The more races you enter, the better your chance to win!” laughs Romanow in an admittedly poor imitation of a TV infomercial pitchman. All winners must be present following the Elite award podiums to win, and a re-draw will take place for any unclaimed prizes. “I’m not putting any of this gear back in my car,” says Romanow emphatically.
Romanow explains that the raffle is both an incentive and a thank you. “We really don’t have any interest in opening the raffle up to just anyone this year. It’s a free thing we’re giving to MAC competitors as a ‘thank you’ for competing all year and staying the weekend with us in Long Island.
