The 2019/20 Telenet UCI World Cup series returns with stop 5 this Sunday at the famed sands of Koksijde. Eleven young riders sponsored by the USA Cycling development program will have the opportunity to race at one of the sport’s iconic venues.
Located along the North Sea, Koksijde hosted the 2012 World Championships and it has hosted a World Cup or the World Champs every year since 2006, with the exception of 2016 when the race was canceled due to blisteringly high winds.

World Cup Koksijde is part of the November European block run by USA Cycling. Eleven riders are racing as part of the program.

Elite Women
Heading up the Elite Women’s start list is again the young Dutch trio of Annemarie Worst (777), Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Corendon – Circus) and Yara Kastelijn (777). Worst and Alvarado are fresh off a thrilling battle at Tabor that ultimately went to Worst in the last lap.
Katerina Nash (Clif Pro Team) returns as the World Cup overall leader with 231 points. Maghalie Rochette (Specialized x Feedback Sports) is second, but she is not racing this weekend. Kaitie Keough (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) is 3rd with 192 points.
Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight), Keough, Corey Coogan Cisek (CCC Racing) and Rebecca Gross (Zero D Racing) are the Elite U.S. women racing, and adopted Americans Caroline Mani (Pactimo / Colorado Proud) and Nash are set to start as well.
Elite Men
Last Saturday’s race in Tabor was a banger thanks in part to Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) starting on the third row, and thanks in part to Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal), Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) and Lars van der Haar (Telenet Baloise Lions) giving him a tough fight into the last half of the last lap.
With his Tabor win, Van der Poel moved up to 24th in the World Cup overall, so he will again be starting on the 3rd row on Sunday.
Iserbyt returns as the World Cup overall leader. Toon Aerts (Telenet Baloise Lions) is in 2nd, 45 points behind.
U.S. starters are Max Judelson (Voler / Easton / HRS / Rock Lobster), Tyler Cloutier (TCCX) and Andrew Juiliano (Voler Pro CX / Cure IBD p/b Shimano).
Full Elite start lists are below.
Sunday’s Elite Women’s race starts at 7:30 a.m. EST and the Elite Men’s at 9:00 a.m. The races will be available via NBC Gold in the U.S. and Flobikes in Canada.
