The sold-out 10th edition of the SSCXWC in Portland attracted big numbers and big names to Kruger Farm just outside of Portland, Oregon. Photographer Mike Estes was on hand to capture the qualifying festivities from Day 1.

Racers went off in qualifying heats of twenty racers or more to earn a coveted spot in Sunday's World Championship event. Even Sven Nys took his turn to qualify:

Racers had other options, including a dual slalom eliminator race (video here) and a holeshot race (video here) that took just one racer per each of the three holeshot heats.

Women were mixed in with the men for heat qualification, but all women in attendance made the women's finals.
