RUDDERVOORDE, Belgium – Sanne Cant (Enertherm-BKCP) doubles up her wins for the weekend claiming the victory at the third round of this season’s Hansgrohe Superprestige series in Ruddervoorde a day after defending her title at the European Cyclocross Championships.

Cant jockeyed for positioning with Britain’s Helen Wyman (Kona Factory Racing) leading into the course’s signature sand pit on the first round. As the first to hit the obstacle Cant utilized her technical riding abilities to create a gap that the competition could not recover from.

Wyman attempted to reconnect but it was Telenet-Fidea rider Ellen Van Loy who took over the chase in the second lap after passing Wyman on an off-camber by riding the high line as the Wyman dismounted to run.

The section may have been Wyman’s Achilles’ heel, loosing time through the obstacle each round and possibly aiding the efforts of Jolien Verschueren (VZW Young Telenet Fidea) who was able to close a 20 second deficit after a bad start and a fall to catch and pass Wyman in the last lap.

With three wins in as many races Cant leads the series by six points over Verschueren with Maud Kaptheijns (AA Drink-B.R.I.S. Cycling Team) in third place. Britain’s Nikki Harris (Teenet-Fidea) drops to fifth in the rankings behind Wyman after abandoning the race with stomach issues.
