As has become the custom in Elite Women’s races, Ceylin Alvarado (Alpecin – Fenix) and Annemarie Worst (777) set a fast pace from the start of Sunday’s Brussels Universities Cyclocross to break free from the field.
The two again took their duel into the last lap, where Alvarado put the pressure on her rival. After Alvarado cleared the first bumpy descent down the university lawn, Worst crashed near the bottom to give Alvarado a decisive gap.
The leader of the DVV Trofee series picked up her 3rd win in a row and extended her podium streak to 15 races. Worst finished second, and Sanne Cant (IKO – Crelan) beat Anna Kay (Experza Pro CX) in the last lap to take third.
Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight) finished 5th, Rebecca Fahringer (Kona Maxxis Shimano) 13th, Clara Honsinger (Team S&M CX) 18th, Corey Coogan Cisek (CCC Racing) 29th, Rebecca Gross (Zero D Racing) 31st, Maria Larkin (Donkey Label Racing p/b FK Law) 32nd, Siobhan Kelly (Black Dog Racing) 35th and Turner Ramsay (Alpha Bicycle – Groove Subaru) 36th.
