When your team adds new sponsors and a new kit, what better way to welcome them than with a double winning day of cyclocross?
The annual New Year’s Day GP Sven Nys took place in Baal on Wednesday, and both Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Alpecin – Fenix) and Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin – Fenix) had a new team as their old Corendon – Circus program switched sponsors for 2020.
Alvarado continued the Dutch Elite Women’s dominance with a win. Lucinda Brand (Telenet Baloise Lions) finished second and Annemarie Worst (777) third.
Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight) finished 6th, Clara Honsinger (Team S&M CX) 12th, Sammi Runnels (Squid x Eliel) 18th, Raylyn Nuss (MAAP / MINI U.S. Cyclocross Program) 19th, Hannah Arensman (JA King Cyclocross) 20th, Ruby West (Pivot / Maxxis p/b Stan’s NoTubes) 22nd, Corey Coogan Cisek (CCC Racing) 38th, Siobhan Kelly (Black Dog Racing) 41st and Maria Larkin (Donkey Label Racing p/b FK Law) 42nd.

Van der Poel continued his latest winning streak in the Elite Men’s race. Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) finished second and Tom Pidcock (Trinity Racing) third.
Stephen Hyde (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) finished 14th.
