USA Cycling national championships continued this weekend with Mountain Bike Nationals in Winter Park, Colorado. XCO Nationals took place on Saturday and Short Track Nats are on Sunday.
We have been following the Epic Rides Off-Road Series and UCI XCO World Cups all summer because a number of cyclocrossers and graveleurs have been getting their dirt fix in those races, and this weekend’s XCO Nationals were no different.
We have a run-down of results from Saturday’s XCO races.
Pro Women
The new Women’s XCO National Champion is Chloe Woodruff (Stan’s – Pivot Pro Team). 2019 Crusher in the Tushar winner Evelyn Dong (Pivot – Stan’s NoTubes) continued her success with a second-place finish and Lea Davison (Clif Pro Team) took third.
Hannah Finchamp (Clif Pro Team) finished 5th, Crystal Anthony (Liv Cycling) 7th, Kaysee Armstrong (Liv Cycling) 8th, Louisville Masters National Champion Holly LaVesser (Neff Cycle Service) 14th and Jen Malik (Red Kite Racing) 23rd. Sunny Gilbert started but was a DNF, and 2019 Road Race National Champion Ruth Winder (Trek – Segafredo) took a DNF in her quest for a second Stars-and-Stripes jersey for the summer.

Pro Men
In the Pro Men’s race, Keegan Swenson (Stan’s – Pivot Pro Team) continued his successful summer with a Stars-and-Stripes jersey. 2018 champ Howard Grotts (Specialized Factory Team) took second and Russell Finsterwald (Clif Pro Team) third.
Stephan Davoust (Giant Off-Road Team) finished 5th, 2019 Land Run 100 winner Payson McElveen (Orange Seal Off-Road Team) 7th, 2019 Crusher champ Alex Grant (Gear Rush) 9th, Grant Ellwood (303 Project) 13th, Jamey Driscoll 14th and Brian Matter (Linear Sport Racing) 21st. Christopher Blevins (Specialized) raced the Elites but was a DNF.

U23 Women / Men
2019 Montana Cross Camp attendee Ellie Mitchell (NW Women’s Cyclocross Project) finished 13th in the U23 Women’s race.
Henry Nadell (Construction Zone Racing) took silver in the U23 Men’s race. 2018 Crusher in the Tushar winner Zach Calton (Summit National Team) finished 5th, Nick Lando (Bear Development Team) 8th, Caleb Swartz (Bear Pro Team) 15th, Ross Ellwood (Boulder Junior Cycling) 18th, Brannan Fix (Alpha Bicycle – Groove Subaru) 25th, Cooper Willsey 36th, Sam Noel 45th and Calder Wood 52nd.

Junior Women / Men
2019 Cyclocross Worlds team member Madigan Munro (Boulder Junior Cycling) finished second in a close one in the Junior Women’s race. Katie Clouse (DNA Pro Cycling) finished ninth.
In the Junior Men’s race, Jared Scott (Boulder Junior Cycling) finished 11th, Ryder Utrecht (Bear Development Team) 22nd and Nathan Knowles (ASU Devo) was a DNF.
