The DVV Trofee unveiled a new race on Saturday at the 2019 Urban Cross in Kortrijk. Similar to Superprestige Diegem, the race took the “Urban” part very seriously.
Kortrijk is a town in southwestern Belgium just across the border from Roubaix, a French city you may or may not have heard of. The course was set along the Leie River and included a bridge crossing between the halves of the course set on both sides of the river.
The video below has a sped-up look at the unique track. Early reports indicate cars and pedestrians on the bridge were not part of today’s race’s course obstacles.

In the Elite Women’s race, Lucinda Brand (Telenet Baloise Lions) got some World Cup Koksijde revenge by beating out Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Corendon – Circus). Annemarie Worst (777) won out of a group that included Sanne Cant (IKO – Beobank) and Yara Kastelijn (777) to finish third.
Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight), who typically races the DVV Trofee series, was back at home in Colorado Springs getting ready for U.S. Cyclocross Nationals two weekends from now.
Corey Coogan Cisek (CCC Racing) finished 23rd.
Thus far this season, Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) has shown he can win in the field, at the beach and today, he won in the city. Van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) won his 34th consecutive race on Saturday at Urban Cross. Tim Merlier (Creafin – Fristads) did not crash in the first corner and took second. Toon Aerts (Telenet Baloise Lions) took third.
Max Judelson (Voler / Easton / HRS / Rock Lobster) finished 26th.
