In addition to the title defenses by Elisabeth Brandau and Marcel Meisen, the 2019 German Cyclocross Nationals had a bit of extra intrigue thanks to three-time world champion Hanka Kupfernagel’s decision to race for her 14th German national chmpionship. Now 44, Kupfernagel raced at Leuven in Belgium a few weeks ago and then decided to mix it up with her fellow countrywomen.
Brandau got her second straight title—and third overall—in taking the win. Kupfernagel had an impressive showing, finishing second. Stafanie Paul rounded out the podium in third.
Meisen successfully captured his third straight title—and fourth overall—with a win in the Elite Men’s race. Manuel Müller finished second and Sascha Weber third.
