Saturday’s Crusher in the Tushar in Utah brought out an impressive field that included past winners, Dirty Kanza 200 champions and cycling legends Rebecca Rusch and Ned Overend.
When the Utah dust settled, it was two new Crusher champions who carried the day at the 2018 race.
The Women’s title went to Lauren de Crescenzo (DNA Cycling Team), who finished the 69-mile course in 4:56:49. Karen Zarchow (Team Topeak-Ergon) finished second and Breanna Nalder (PLAN7 DS) took third.
In the Men’s race, it was 21-year-old Zach Calton (Spry-LPW) who took the win in 4:14:42. Jamey Driscoll (Donnelly / Ascend Nutrition) added another Crusher silver to his coffers with a second-place finish. Alex Grant (Cannondale/Gear Rush) rounded out the podium in third. Rob Squire (Hanger 15 Bicycles), who won the last three Crushers, finished tenth.
Rusch and Overend both did well in the Legends Category. Both finished their respective races in seventh.
