It is now possible to register online for the 2014 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships that will take place in Gossau, ZH, Switzerland on January 4 and 5.
After a couple of editions held in Louisville, USA, the Masters World Championships return to Europe. The small town of Gossau, located 20km away from Zürich, is getting ready to reconnect Switzerland with its vivid cyclo-cross tradition of the late 70’s to mid 90’s. It was the time when Albert Zweifel was dominating the international scene followed by talented riders like Thomas Frischknecht and Beat Wabel.
The latest, 1985 Junior World Championships and multiple Elite World Championships medallist is actually the main organizer of the event. Acting as Technical Delegate for the UCI at all World Cup rounds, the Swiss has the right expertise to propose a challenging and high quality 2,5km course. « The course is very open and made of short climbs and downhills. With a good mix of grass, gravel and asphalt roads, it is rideable in all weather conditions and will deliver great racing » Beat Wabel explains.
A total of eight races will be held to award the coveted rainbow jerseys in the different women’s and men’s age categories going from 30-34 to 65+.
