Kona’s cyclocross team has a new name and a bit of a new look for the 2018/19 season.

The team announced yesterday that Rebecca Fahringer will be joining the new Kona Maxxis Shimano Cyclocross team. Fahringer, who finished fifth at Pan-Ams and sixth at Reno Nationals last season, joins two-time Nationals bronze medalist Kerry Werner on the team.

The new team brings a new kit and new tires for Fahringer. The Amy D. Foundation and JAM Fund graduate ran Maxxis tubeless tires last year with her Stan’s NoTubes p/b Maxxis/gofahr program, but this year she will be switching to Maxxis’ Terrane tubular tires. Both Fahringer and Werner will be riding the 2019 Kona Super Jake bike.

Fahringer has had an impressive rise through the ranks of the U.S. cyclocross peloton during the past several seasons. She has been a member of the Worlds team the past two seasons and finished a career-best sixth at Reno Nationals earlier this year.

Werner won six UCI races in 2017 and finished third at U.S. Cyclocross Nationals in both Hartford and Reno.
