Cyclocross bike, all-road bike, gravel bike, adventure bike, monster cross...the list goes on. Companies work hard to categorize bikes, even inventing new categories and being adamant that their bikes are significantly different than everything else on the market.

What if we forget categories all together, make versatile bikes that are designed for fun and warrant fun names?

That's the thought behind Raleigh's new Stuntman drop bar disc brake bike. For $1999, you get a Reynolds 631 steel frame, beefy alloy fork, SRAM Rival 1x, 10-42 drivetrain, a dropper post, Rival hydraulic disc brakes, and clearance for the big volume Clement XC LCV (Leadville) 2.1" 29er tires.

You can ride gravel, cyclocross, mixed terrain, and when bored with all that, do some bike packing, drop the post and get rad on some technical trails, and build some muscle carrying the hefty bike up trails too steep to ride. Without swinging a leg over it, or studying the yet-to-be-released geometry, we think it looks to be one of the most versatile production "monster cross" bikes we've seen.

The bike is a 2017 model that first started as just a one-off show bike, but gained so much momentum and excitement, including by our social following, it has become a production model for the 2017 model year.

Cyclists coveting this model need to get in line though, and shouldn't hold their breath. Michael Kearn just so happened to be walking by when he spotted this bike, and the shirt he was wearing automatically qualified him for the first production bike to land in the States, whenever they land:

The bike is months away, but from the looks of it, might be worth the wait, even if it's for next offseason's adventures. See all the details of this unique bike in the slideshow below. Details not yet on the Raleigh Bicycles website.
