Eva Lechner (Team Colnago Sudtirol) and Lars van der Haar (Giant-Alpecin) both made their moves early and won solo at the Valkenburg World Cup. Lechner utilized her technical prowess to finish ten seconds up on second place, while van der Haar used Valkenburg's steep climbs to his advantage, finishing 24 seconds up on Wout Van Aert (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace).

While the winners both had impressive victories, the ride of the day belongs to Katie Antonneau (Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com), who rode to second place in the Elite Women's race, her personal best.

American Amanda Miller (Boulder Cycle Sport/YogaGlo) finished in fifth place, and in all, four American women finished in the top twenty with Crystal Anthony (Boulder Cycle Sport/YogaGlo) and Katie Compton (Trek Factory Racing) placing 12th and 13th respectively.

In the Elite Men's race, American Jeremy Powers finished 41st after a fast start with fellow US rider Brian Matter taking 54th.
