The Northern California and Nevada Cycling Association (NCNCA) Cyclocross District Championships were held last weekend at a new-to-cyclocross venue at Lion Oaks Ranch in Morgan Hill, California.

Charm City CX’s Kris Auer flew in from France to team up with Pat Miller to design a challenging, undulating, scenic but bumpy course that served as a rightful proving ground for District Championship titles. The race was run in conjunction with the Central Coast Cyclocross series.

Current and former National Champions dotted the course throughout the day, with Bob Downs and Lance Haidet showing off their Stars-and-Stripes in their last tune-up before Nationals. Four-time champ Clark Natwick was on hand to help the Pen Velo team ready for Reno, while former National champions John and Linda Elgart, Tobin Ortenbad, Cody Kaiser, Ben Gomez Villafane, Don Myrah and others took their chances at earning a title jersey before the 2018 Nationals even began.

Photographer Jeff Vander Stucken and CXM’s Andrew Yee were on hand to capture some of the racing. See their photo gallery below.
