Sunday brought a new race to the DVV Trofee series with the Brussels Universities Cyclocross on the campus of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Even with the new race, the result of the Elite Men’s race was one we had seen 22 times previously this year.
Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) won the race by ripping through the hilly, technical section in the woods and powering up and flying down the rollers on the VUB campus lawn.
Kerry Werner (Kona Maxxis Shimano) was one of the North Americans to make a start, and he got to show off his skills navigating around a crashed rider and hopping his way up the Belgian stairs.
