Ohio-based photographer and videographer Taylor Kruse hopped over the pond to take in the 2019 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Bogense, Denmark.

Kruse documented the two-day event not by focusing on the racing, but the entire experience, including the fans, concessions, scenery and oddities.

In the process, he captured great images of all the things that make Worlds more than just another big race.

The event left its impression on Kruse. He shared a few words (and images) about his experience:

Party tents fueled by Belgian DJs and endless beer, groups of devoted supporters in costume and custom rider jackets, cowbells, sirens, and announcing in multiple languages; the World Cyclocross Championships highlights the many facets of the sport that make cyclocross.

Inside the tape the world's best fight for the rainbow stripes, but outside the fencing and course infrastructure their fans wave custom flags and chant, pushing their favorite riders to make the next attack.

Fans are equally serious and devoted as they are drunken and jovial in their support of their racers.

The World Championship also presents an unparalleled experience for Junior, U23, and new Elite riders to the ranks to experience a race like no other; riders from all countries mingle with fans and support their teammates.

Thankfully for all of us, Kruse captured a lot of what makes the event special through his images.
