Junior National Champion Goguen’s winning ride, based on the $4400 2013 Specialized Carbon Pro Crux, certainly cannot be called an affordable ride by most, and is likely outside the price range for many unsponsored juniors. Yet his use of older wheels, mix-and-match SRAM components, 10-speeds and cantilever brakes shows that you don’t need the latest and greatest components to be the nation’s best.
