Cyclocross continues at the permanent cyclocross course at the Eva Bandman park this Sunday with the Storm Eva Bandman race. This is the same venue as that hosted the 2013 Cyclocross World Championships and the 2014 Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championships, and now it’s set to host top racing and costume cyclocross. Full details below:
Storm Eva Bandman returns this Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Eva Bandman Cyclocross Park.
The Course:
Louisville, KY is fortunate to be home to the cyclocross venue (Eva Bandman Cyclocross Park) that hosted the 2013 World Cyclocross Championships. Storm Eva’s course designers take full advantage of the features that the world’s best pros tamed in 2013. Racers will find a road start; run-ups; sand pits; steep drops; and twisty, wooded trails.
Our Sponsors:
In addition to title sponsor Papa John’s Pizza, returning race sponsors include Scheller’s Fitness and Cycling, Perelmuter & Goldberg Orthodontics, and Louisville Firefighters Local 345. In addition, Baptist Health Sports Medicine will be on hand race day to help with race-related injuries and Clarksville Schwinn will provide an on-site mechanic.
The Racing:
The OVCX is one of the Nation’s top ‘cross series. The series draws about 400 racers every weekend during the fall and winter months. The OVCX is also proud to be one of the nation’s hotbeds for junior racing. There will be over 100 juniors racing at Storm Eva. Fast juniors—the OVCX boasts several current junior national champions and several former national junior champions.
Costume Contest:
Don’t forget your costume. Storm Eva Bandman doubles as a Halloween Party. The race’s costume contest is a perennial favorite.
Great Food and Weather:
Storm Eva has two amazing food trucks with burgers and frites from Black Rock Grille and Korean-inspired tacos, chicken soup, and dumplings from the Traveling Kitchen.
Even the weather tends to shine on Storm Eva Bandman. The forecast for Sunday is a perfect 72 and sunny.
Racing begins at 10:00am with the last race at 3:30pm. Eva Bandman Park is located on River Road, just east of downtown Louisville. The event is free to spectators. Parking is also free. For more information Storm Eva Bandman is on Facebook and Twitter.
