Curtis White (Cannondale p/b Cyclocross World) one a dramatic, suspenseful battle for Pan American supremacy today, defending his battle against first-year U23 racers Gage Hecht (Alpha Bicycle) and Spencer Petrov (Cyclocross Alliance).
What started as an eight-man lead group gradually narrowed down to three. Petrov kept pushing the pace at the front, shedding riders until it was just three. White traded attacks with Hecht and Petrov until he finally shed the Hecht then Petrov for a solo ride to the finish.
Hecht rejoined Petrov to nip him at the line for second.
