SDG Bel-Air RL 2.0 and Custom Graphics

SDG was displaying the Bel-Air RL 2.0 saddle that has a Ti-alloy rail with a feature called the Down Curve Nose that is designed to aid in climbing and prevent snagging. This shape makes it an ideal choice for XC, road or cyclocross riders. The Bel-Air features a relief channel from the tip to the tail and contains lightweight EVA foam. The one piece microfiber cover has colored perforations for style and comfort. The SDG Bel-Air RL 2.0 is 270mm in length and 140mm in width and has a claimed weight of 230 grams. This saddle is available now and has five different graphics. The suggested retail price is $99.99.

SDG also showed the Duster P RL in a custom graphic option created for one of its sponsored teams, Squid Bikes. The fully custom wraps can be ordered by clubs or teams in runs as small as 30 saddles. The Duster is also the saddle of choice for pro-rider Amanda Nauman. Like the Bel-Air, the Duster P RL has a Ti-alloy rail but is slightly narrower at 137mm in width. The price is the same as the Bel-Air, $99.99.

Light and Motion Taz and Urban Bike Lights

Light and Motion has been producing bike lights for many years and the company had some updates to the Taz and Urban line of lights. The popular Taz still comes in 1500 lumens but there is now a 2000 lumens top of the line model. It has a run time as high as 6 hours on low power mode or 1.5 hours on high. For those riders who prefer to be in "stealth" mode every now and then, the side lights can now be turned off. The Taz 2000 is available now from retailers like REI, which is one of Light and Motions biggest vendors. The suggested retail price of the Taz 2000 is $290.

Light and Motion also updated the Urban line of bike lights with offerings from 350 lumens for $50 up to 1000 lumens for $140. The Urban is a good choice for commuters and the higher lumen models can pull duty for night riding and trail duty. With a background in diving lights, it should be no surprise that the Urban lights area all completely waterproof, and can be submerged in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The Urban is also durable and Light and Motion explained that the light can survive a 1 meter drop test.

SQ Lab Ergowave 611 and 612 Active Saddles

SQ Lab is a German brand that specializes in ergonomically correct saddles, grips and bars and the company had the new 611 and 612 saddles on hand at the Sea Otter Classic. The saddles come in both active and non-active models. The active models have saddle rails that are separated from the shell to provide flex, which can be finely-tuned with the use of different elastomers.

The SQ Lab 612 Active is a good choice for cyclocross riders because it provides a narrower saddle for riders that have to move around a bit. The 611 is a good choice if you like your padding on the softer side and the 611 has a Kevlar stripe along the back to provide protection.

These are very lightweight saddles with some models coming in as light as 148 grams. The Active versions come in about 200 grams. All saddles come in different widths, 12, 13, 14, 15 (120, 130, 140, 150mm respectively) and SQ Lab measures the actual sitting area whereas other manufacturers (like Specialized) measure from the outside edge to the outside edge. The 612 Ergowave Active Carbon saddle is available now and has a retail price of $249.
