SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Low Pressure Promotions, LLC announced the details of the 2012 MFG Cyclocross schedule at its world headquarters in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, WA today. MFG Cyclocross is once again presented by Raleigh Bicycles for 2012 and will consist of six races beginning in September and will conclude on November 11th at the 4th Annual Woodland Park Gran Prix.
“MFG Cyclocross heads into year four for 2012, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the up-and-coming season,” said co-founder Zac Daab. “We are extremely grateful to Raleigh Bicycles for signing on to be the official MFG Cyclocross Title Sponsor. Raleigh Bicycles has supported MFG for four consecutive years and the depth of their ‘cross specific line-up of bicycles mirrors their involvement and support of cyclocross.”
Returning for 2012 is the inclusion of a true Beginners Category for both men and women. The Beginners Category is intended for true newbies to try bicycle racing and cyclocross, at a fraction of the cost of a standard entry. No racing license is required to participate in any MFG category, at any MFG race, including the Beginner’s Category.
New to MFG Cyclocross this season is the addition of the famed night race, StarCrossed. Traditionally, StarCrossed has been a stand-alone night race featuring the highest level of international competition at the end of the evening. This year, StarCrossed will be included in the MFG Cyclocross series, will be expanded to allow all MFG categories a chance to race on the velodrome at Marymoor Park, and will feature the 2nd annual Eliminator short track race around the Deschutes beer garden at the end of the evening.
Also new to MFG Cyclocross this year is the chance to purchase a Season Pass at a discounted rate. Once a participant has purchased a Season Pass, they will not have to stand in line and check in at every single race, so long as a rider picks up their race bib number for the season. Season Passes are now available on-line at Bikereg.com.
As in years past, Raleigh Bicycles will continue offering their cyclocross demo bike program at all MFG Cyclocross events. The Raleigh Demo Program will compliment the Beginner Category as racers can potentially show up without a cyclocross bike, sign up to demo a Raleigh cross bike, and have a positive first experience racing cyclocross. In addition to the Raleigh Demo Program, series sponsor Cascade Bicycle Studio will also attend every MFG event and have a fleet of demo bicycles available at no charge throughout the race day.
MFG Cyclocross is proud to continue its successful partnerships with venue owners King County Parks, Washington State Parks, and Seattle Parks. As has been the case in past years, MFG Cyclocross will once again partner with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/Starbucks Cycling to host the Starbucks Gran Prix on Saturday, October 27th. To date, Low Pressure Promotions has donated close to $20,000 to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
MFG Cyclocross is proud to have Raleigh Bicycles as the Series Title Sponsor of the series for the fourth year in a row. Additionally, MFG welcomes Beyond Clothing, Bob’s Red Mill, Brouwer’s Café, Cascade Bicycle Studio, Coal Headwear, Clif Bar, Continental Tires, Crank Brothers, The Cycling House, Deschutes Brewery, Fizik, Full Speed Ahead, Mavic, Nuun Hydration, Rapha, and Stanley-a brand of PMI for 2012.
