Marianne Vos keeps adding to her closet of rainbow jerseys. The young Dutch star took her seventh world championship title in the scratch race at the 2011 UCI Track World Championships at the Apeldoorn Velodrom in Holland.
This title is her second on the track, with her first track title being in the points race at the 2008 Track World Championships, and adds to her four cyclocross world championships (her last three being Saint Wendel in 2011, Tabor in 2010, and Hoogerheide in 2009) and her one road title.
The scratch race was her last chance at a title in these championships in front of a home crowd, after she finished seventh in the points race. Vos won her title in typical Vos fashion, using her explosive speed to gap her four fellow breakaway companions in the second-to-last turn.
Australian Kate Bates and Brit Dani King finished in second and third, with American Jennie Reed in 15th.
