One of the annual traditions of Cyclocross Magazine is reflecting back on a year filled with reviewing products and award those that struck us as the best of the best in the realms of cyclocross, gravel and cycling gear. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be releasing all of the awards one day at a time. Be sure to keep checking back to see what products are most worth your hard-earned dollars. Issue 28 also has the Editors’ Awards and the Readers’ Choice awards, so be sure to order your backcopy today, which is also available on Uberflip, in the App Store on iTunes, and on Google Play for Android.
With the unveiling of our Readers’ Choice Awards, the last award went to Crank Brothers Candy 2 Pedals for Favorite Pedal, which took a surprise win this year after the Eggbeaters and Shimano XTR pedals battled at the top spot the year before.
Embrocation and friction fighting are a different matter entirely. For Cyclocross Magazine readers, Mad Alchemy has been voted as a constant favorite. For embrocation, most of their products are $19.95, and they formulate different products for different temperatures and preferences. Like embro even when it’s 95 degrees outside? They have Warm Weather Embrocation for that. Want an embro that will keep the chill away and smells like the tropics? They have Meredith Miller’s Signature Blend (they also have other cyclocross athletes signature blends as well). They even have a rustic Gentleman’s Blend.
Our Readers’ Favorite Chamois Creams range between $10-$24 depending on size and style, and Mad Alchemy one again gives the people what they want with five different types, including the La Femme Chamois for women, and Pro Euro for those wanting a minty tingle.
