PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA- The 2012 Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross Series Sponsored by Fuji Bikes bids farewell with the Limestone Cross at the Kiln at Camp Olympus in Emmaus.

Heading into the final race, teammates Ryan DeWald and Weston Schempf (SEAVS/Haymarket) hold an insurmountable lead in the Elite Men’s category.  The Elite Women will be a nail-biter with Katrina Dowidchuk (Colavita ESPN W), Nicole Thiemann (Team CF) and Arley Kemmerer (C3 Twenty20 Cycling) all vying for the overall series victory.

Promoter Andy Taus and course designer Michael Yozell, the masterminds behind Nittany Cross, have dreamed up another winner.   Those who braved this race’s debut in January 2011 will recall the snow and frigid temps that turned Allentown into Anchorage and made a twisting, turning, hill-atious course even more treacherous.  Yozell tweaked the December 2011 course with and promises that there will be more challenges for 2012.

Series sponsor Fuji bikes has generously raffled off two aluminum framesets at each MAC race this season.  The overall winners of the “B” Series for men and women will each receive titanium framesets.  Team Bicycle Therapy’s Linda Molendyke has sewn up the women’s category, the Killer B men is still up for grabs where fewer than 100 points separate the top 3 riders.

The Ti frameset could go home with John Cotter (Freddie Fu Cycling Team) who enters the final race with 603 points or Jerry Troiano (Rutgers Cycling) who has 590 points.  Trailing 100 points behind in third is Christopher Rabadi (Crosshairs Cycling p/b Spy Optic).

It’s fitting that the MAC series end with two new races designed by Series veterans.  The accumulated passion and knowledge of cross in this group guarantees an excellent event.   Come out and bid the MAC Series Presented by Fuji Bikes a fond adieu until next season.
