All right, you know the drill and don’t shoot the messenger. Watching the 2018 UCI Cyclocross World Championships, if you’re not an NBC Sports Gold cable channel subscriber can be difficult.
NBC has tied up the rights to the UCI Cyclocross World Cups and World Championships in the United States. Live broadcasts are available through the NBC Sports Gold package and it appears Saturday and Sunday’s Elite races will be broadcast on NBC’s Olympic Channel. For full TV listings by country, and to see which countries are geo-blocked, see this list (pdf).
Of course, we want everyone to enjoy cyclocross racing at the highest level, but if you’re not a NBC Universal subscriber and you’re determined to watch it, or aren’t only interested in the Elite races, your options require some creativity to get around the UCI geo restriction. Some say Tunnel Bear VPN, the Hola plugin or the Opera browser are effective, and a VPN set to a country like Finalnd seems the safest and has worked for some last year.
If any of those options scare you, the other options might be even scarier. Some sites like cyclingfans.com offer streams of questionable quality and could force or trick you to click on ads.
If you reside in a UCI-authorized country — or at least your IP address does — you should be able to watch the weekends races right here below.
Click on a player to see if it returns an error. If any say “The uploader has not made this video available in your country” then check the country you or your IP address are sitting in. We’ve heard fans in lucky Finland can watch the live stream just fine.
