September 3, 2014 (LONGMONT, COLORADO) Lazer Sports has stepped up their annual participation at Clif® Bar CrossVegas with sponsorship of the Elite Women’s race. The sponsorship includes providing a prize list that equals the Elite Men’s prizes with over $8,700 across 30 places.
Lazer Head Helmeteer Sean van Waes stated “CrossVegas is the biggest and most exciting cyclocross race in America and we are excited to support the race again this year. We are very happy to equalize the prize list between the elite women’s and men’s events as Lazer is a longtime supporter of women’s bike racing. We are even coming out with a women’s specific helmet line in the spring of 2015!”
CrossVegas race director Brook Watts expressed delight at Lazer Sports’ move by saying “they’ve been a long time partner of the race and for 2014 Lazer continues to make equal prizes for women a priority.”
The season-opening international cyclocross race features multiple races for women including the USA Cycling race and the Wheelers & Dealers Race for bicycle industry members. The marquee event for the evening is the Elite Women’s race that will include top international riders including the #1 and #2 ranked women in the world Katie Compton (USA) and Helen Wyman (Great Britain).
