Laurens Sweeck came into Wednesday night’s CrossVegas as the favorite and did not disappoint despite the burden. Sweeck wasted no time in attacking at the uphill sand pit during the first lap and escaped to an easy victory in the UCI C1 event.
The other Sweeck brother Diether locked horns with Jeremy Powers (Aspire Racing) in the latter half of the race and also used the sand pit to get a decisive gap for second.
Laurens waited up for his twin brother Diether and the two rode across the finish line together for the one-two finish. Powers held on for third. Bjorn Selander (Borah Teamwear powered by Bingh) rode a strong fourth and Michael van den Ham (Garneau Easton p/b Transitions) finished fifth.
