Mathieu van der Poel missed the 2016 U.S World Cups because of a knee injury, but he made up for lost time on Sunday at the 2017 Jingle Cross. Van der Poel took the holeshot and then stayed on the gas en route to a ten-second lead after the first lap. Van der Poel was not challenged the rest of the race, and he made sure to put on a good show for the fans by getting air several times off the flyover.
Laurens Sweeck and Quinten Hermans formed an impromptu team to keep the rest of the field away after realizing Van der Poel was gone. Sweeck was strongest at the end to take second and Hermans added a third to his second from Friday night.
