The 2012 Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross Presented by Fuji Bikes opens September 15 & 16 with Nittany Lion Cross, a UCI 2 race that boasts the return of US superstar Jeremy Powers

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – Nestled around the legendary Valley Preferred Cycling Center, the Nittany Lion Cross has became a favorite among racers, drawing an A List international crowd including last year’s winners Jeremy Powers (Rapha Focus) and Great Britain’s Helen Wyman (Kona) as well as Belgium’s Joyce Vanderbeken (Wielerteam Decock Moorsele) who earned a spot on last year’s podium.
Designed by local cross legend Michael Yozell, the course undulates around the velodrome property, challenging competitors with off camber turns, berms, and roots. There are also plenty of sections to rip it and gain spots. If the weather has been wet, plan on getting muddy in the swamp behind the velodrome which became 75 yards of hell in 2011.
Don’t worry about missing any action because in addition to live streaming coverage there will be a “Big MO” screen to capture racing coverage at the event. So pro!
Non-UCI racers have a shot at winning a frameset donated by series’ presenter Fuji Bikes. Race promoter Dave Miller: “On Sunday we will be having a drawing for a Fuji Cross frame. All non-UCI competitors are automatically entered when they sign up for either or both days!” Odds of winning increase by signing up for both days.
