Updated for 2017 is the Jamis Renegade Elite. We first saw the Jamis Renegade at Interbike a couple of years ago. Since then, the bike has undergone some changes for the coming year.

The revamped model features flat mount disc brake mounts and an internal cam clamp for the 27.2 seat post. The Renegade Elite's full carbon, tapered fork also features inserts so riders can utilize Shimano or Maxle thru axles as well as low rider rack mounts that could serve as additional bottle cage mounts. Both frame and fork feature fender mounts as well and will accommodate 40mm tires.

The Renegade Elite is an all carbon affair, built around a BB86 bottom bracket shell and with redesigned rear dropouts that are said to improve compliance and ride quality. The bike is outfitted with a Shimano mechanical Ultegra kit mated to Shimano's own RS685 hydraulic disc brakes. American Classic provides the wheels with its MTB Race offering, a great option for gravel going, and they come wrapped in Clement's X'plor MSO 70 x 36mm rubber. Ritchey handles the cockpit components on the Renegade Elite while the saddle comes from Fizik.

The wheels may say MTB Race, but the American Classic wheels are one of the company's best tubeless gravel options. Jamis 2017 Renegade Elite carbon gravel bike. Sea Otter Classic 2016. © Cyclocross Magazine

There is also the Jamis Exploit 631 steel bike, which also caught our eye at the 2016 Sea Otter Classic. Renegade-like in its purpose, it features the same fork as the Renegade Elite as well as redesigned rear dropouts for more compliance than already offered by steel. There's also more room for the brake thanks to the frame's change.

For 2017 there will again be two carbon, two steel and one aluminum model in the Renegade line-up with the alloy one being the least expensive.

Each of the 2017 Jamis Renegade models will be available mid-Summer accourding to the company.
