Bike Computers
Bike computer technology has come a long way in recent years, and although a new computer might be a “big gift” price-wise, new GPS computers pack a lot into a small package. With improved maps and routes and Ant+ FE-C connectivity, a computer upgrade could make a gift that will get use year-round.
Two computers we have reviewed recently are the Wahoo Elemnt and Garmin Edge 520 Plus. We reviewed both the Elemnt (on sale for $220) and Edge 520 Plus ($280) favorably, thanks in large part to the impressive navigation and route features. With gravel events taking place on roads less traveled, easy-t0-follow directions are a godsend compared the old-fashioned look at the course map or cue sheets methods.

Both computers are also cyclocross-ready, with the Edge 520 becoming our reviewer’s go-to during the recent ’cross season. The Wahoo Elemnt Roam and Garmin 530 are also available and have longer battery lives. Stay tuned for forthcoming reviews of those units.
