ESSEN, BELGIUM – On a rainy, muddy course today in Essen, Belgian champion Sanne Cant (BKCP) continued her winning ways as she proved best equipped to handle the difficult terrain to take the GVA Trofee win.

At the start of the race, it was Katerina Nash (Luna) who gave the Belgian the most difficulty, but Nash began to struggle on the slippery straight-aways, giving Cant a small gap that then only increased throughout the race. Nash’s trouble continued with a mechanical, forcing her to run to the pits and allowing first European champion Helen Wyman (Kona), and then Telenet-Fidea’s Nikki Harris to overtake her and claim the final two spots on the podium. American Nicole Thiemann took 18th, and Christine Vardaros 24.
