Alison Tetrick and Colin Strickland both won Gravel Worlds in 2017. In 2018, both riders had impressive fields gunning to spoil their title defenses. Also on the line: a memorable winner’s sword offered by the host Pirate Cycling League.

Tetrick and Strickland both defended their titles at the 150-mile gravel race. How they got there, however, was a bit different.

Tetrick had a nearly flawless race after going out strong and maintaining the lead for nearly the entire race.

Strickland, on the other hand, had to stop to repair a slow tire leak early on and had to charge back before taking the lead with less than 20 miles to go. A late move on Mat Stephens propelled him to the win.
