Our first new bike from the 2018 Interbike in Reno is one from a brand that goes back a few years.
Favorit is an old brand that was recently revived by a Slovak businessman. The original Favorit company started building bikes in the early 1900s in what was then Czechoslovakia.
Materials and components have changed since then, and Favorit now produces custom carbon bikes in the modern Czech Republic. Fans of European ’cross have likely seen a Favorit bike under Pavla Havlikova, who has won the last two Czech Cyclocross Nationals on them.
Favorit had two framesets on display at Interbike: the F3 Cyclocross and F3 Adventure.
Favorit joins Alan as a European custom carbon builder. The frames use custom carbon lugs bonded to carbon tubes and feature internal routing. The company claims the F3 Cyclocross frame weighs about 1,050g.
The F3 Cyclocross frameset was built up Campagnolo components, which is not something we see for ’cross every day. The bike had the Chorus groupset with the company’s new hydraulic disc brakes.
The F3 Cyclocross comes with a carbon fork that has an alloy crown and carbon lugs, similar to Wound Up forks.
The Adventure model comes with a Lauf Grit fork.
Frameset retail prices are $2,790 for the F3 Cyclocross and $3,490 for the F3 Adventure with a Lauf fork.
Right now, the wait for orders on Favorit bikes is three months, but the company was at Interbike in part because it is looking for dealers here in the U.S.
