Natasha Elliot (Emd Serono / Stevens) gave the home team something to cheer about Sunday, taking home her second victory of the weekend at the second day of the Toronto International Cyclocross Day Two. After taking home Saturday’s Day 1, Elliot put in another strong performance to take home victory 29 seconds ahead of Kristin Wentworth (Planet Bike) and 56 seconds ahead of Rebecca Wellons (Ridley Factory Team). Wentworth moved one step up the podium from Saturday while Wellons improved to third from fifth on Saturday.
As predicted in this weekend’s Fantasy Outlook, Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com’s Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers traded places from day one, with Johnson moving to the top step of the podium, followed by Powers, who finished almost a minute behind. With the win, Johnson continued his impressive string of Day 2 victories at weekend races. Andy Jacques-Maynes (Specialized/Kmc Pb Cal Giant) rounded out the podium followed closely by Dan Timmerman (Reynolds). Cyclocross Magazine online columnist Ben Popper cracked the top 20 with an 18th, while print mag columnist Vicki Thomas finished in 11th. Full results below.
