Yesterday’s Ronde van Limburg one-day, 188km road race in the Netherlands featured plenty of climbing – and plenty of cyclocrossers anxious to test their uphill fitness. Cyclocross Magazine‘s own Bart Hazen was in attendance and contributed the following report.

Many of the top Dutch cyclocrossers, including Eddy van IJzendoorn, Thijs van Amerongen, Bram Schmitz, Lars van der Haar and Belgian Tom van den Bosch competed in the Dutch climbing race, the Ronde van Limburg, on Sunday June 6th. Uphill grinds included the the Eyserbosweg, Camerig, Gulpenerberg and the famous Cauberg. The finish was on top of the Adsteeg, where the Dutch National Road Championships will take place at the end of June. Bram Schmitz (Cycling team Van Vliet – EBH Elshof) was the top-ranked ‘crosser on the day, finishing in sixth, followed by Belgian Tom Van den Bosch (AA Drink Cycling Team). Van der Haar and van Amerongemn, both of the AA Drink Cycling Team, completed the race as well.
