Weather conditions in Waterloo, Wisconsin were unseasonably warm last weekend for the inaugural World Cup Waterloo. Past runnings of the Trek CX Cup have been dry and dusty, but the heat took the conditions to a level never seen before. Riders did their best to stay cool before the race, employing cooling vests and huddling under umbrellas to stay out of the sun. Once on the course, riders were permitted to have team assistants douse them with water to lessen the effects of the heat.

Dave Mable was with Cyclocross Magazine for the entire hot weekend in Waterloo. On Sunday, Dave documented the heat and dust and even found some time to cool off in the shade near the famed Secret Bar during the singlespeed and Lakefront Legends races.
