ADELSDORF, GERMANY – HempAge, producer of organic and fair clothing with a strong emphasis on hemp, announced today their official sponsorship of USA cyclist Christine “Peanut” Vardaros. Vardaros is a professional rider on the Belgian-based BABOCO Cycling Team as well as a sports/fitness/nutrition journalist and writer. As HempAge is known not only for its stylish clothing but also for its ethical, sustainable business practices, it is a perfect fit for Vardaros. When not on her bike, she is busy spreading the word about a vegan diet for its ethical and ecological benefits as a spokesperson for organizations such as IDA (In Defense of Animals), PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) and Organic Athlete.
Already a fan of hemp products, Vardaros is thrilled to be covered from head to toe (literally from hats to socks) in hemp material. “Hemp has always been a favorite of mine because it is the one material I found that I cannot kill. No matter how many times I abuse it during my zany adventures, construction projects or hard trainings, it not only keeps going but never even smells. It’s natural UV-blocking properties also keep my hard-earned tan lines intact. And after many washes, the material becomes softer while its colors seem to become brighter. As for HempAge, I am thrilled that I now get to do it all in style while feeling good about promoting a company whose business practices parallel my beliefs. It doesn’t get better than that!”
HempAge president Robert Hertel adds, “We are excited to welcome Christine into our HempAge family. She is a perfect ambassador for both our company and our products. We make our clothing out of high quality material that we groom from beginning to end using ethical and fair practices. Christine not only gets this concept but applies her version of it in her racing as well as in her life, proving that she is a great match for us. We look forward to supporting her as she continues to give the best of herself to her sport and to her passions.”
Vardaros will once again contest a full European cyclocross calendar, kicking it off with GP Neerpelt on September 29th. Her hectic schedule of almost forty events spread through to the end of February include the World Cup, GVA Trofee, and Superprestige series events as well as many more UCI International races.
As for her public speaking events, her next scheduled appearance is on September 14th at the International Animal Rights Conference (www.ar-conference.com) in Luxembourg, followed by ECOPOP (www.ecopop.be Belgium’s ecological conference) beginning of February in Kortrijk, Belgium.

About HempAge:
HempAge AG produces organic and fair fashion mainly for the European market with a strong focus on hemp as the basic raw material. HempAge and its production partners are GOTS certified, and are in compliance with the most stringent socio-economical standards as audited by the Fair Wear Foundation.
It is our strong believe that only hemp has the potential to substitute cotton for the growing fiber demand of the future in a sustainable and ecological way for all mankind. Hemp farming uses very little water, does not require the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and is a readily renewable resource. While the sensation of hemp fabric on skin, its antibacterial and antifungal properties, superior moisture absorbency and durability will help convince modern man of its usefulness. To promote a wider distribution of hemp, we offer private label production and small quantity raw material wholesale for small labels and researchers of all kinds.
Since 1996, HempAge has devised many technical developments to reintroduce hemp into modern production facilities. In the upcoming years we plan to finalize a new technology for harvesting and green decortication of hemp fibers to replace all common technologies and raise its economic utilization to the next level.
