Here’s the long-awaited fantasy update after the cyclocross World Cup at Pont Chateau. Yes, I know the Hoogerheide Cyclocross World Cup just finished, and I’m close to getting those results integrated as well. But you’ve waited long enough…

At the World Cup in Pont-Chateau, France, with both Katie Compton and Zdenek Stybar missing, the other riders had a little less pressure for the seventh round of the World Cup. Many of our fantasy teams were relying on points from these two, so those who selected others for their top picks got a little boost this week. A key example being Sean Marling’s CXDAD team earning the top points for that week’s race.

Fantasy players who picked some of the Americans got a nice surprise as well with both Tim Johnson and Amy Dombroski earning 12th place finishes.  However, Chris Bagg’s French Death Pimps Dressed All In White (1130 points) did take the lead over Kat Statman’s Team Awesome (1122 points). It’s certainly no coincidence they’re both sitting pretty at the top spots – both contribute to Cyclocross Magazine and have gained immense knowledge and insight through their involvement (you can too – CXM is about community-contributed content). Jeff Hicks’ Team Zoom is still holding in third place with 1110 points.

With the Hoogerheide World Cup this past Sunday, World Championships next weekend, two more GvA races, and two more Superprestige races still to go, the Cyclocross Magazine fantasy cyclocross league is definitely not over yet. Heck, it’s not too late to enter to try to be the best team for a day and get a mention.
